Name: The Explorers' Book Club Open to advanced readers in late Stage 2 who are reading independently and have a strong interest in literature. Book Selection: Books chosen for the club should be age-appropriate but challenging enough to stimulate discussion and critical thinking. They may include a mix of genres such as fiction, non-fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, and mystery. Members could take turns suggesting books for the group to read. Discussion Format: Preparation: Before each meeting, members should read the selected book thoroughly. Discussion Starters: A discussion leader or facilitator could prepare some questions or prompts to kick-start the discussion. These may relate to character development, plot twists, themes, moral dilemmas, or personal connections to the story. Roundtable Discussion: Members take turns sharing their thoughts, insights, and questions about the book. They should feel free to express their opinions and engage in respectful debate. Active Listening: Encourage active listening and respectful participation. Members should listen to each other's viewpoints and respond thoughtfully. Extension Activities: After discussing the book, the group could engage in related activities such as creative writing exercises, art projects, or research projects related to the themes or topics explored in the book. Involvement of Parents/Guardians: Encourage parents or guardians to support their child's participation by helping them select appropriate books, facilitating discussions at home, and possibly even participating in book club meetings or activities.
